Domaine Denis Mortet is based in Gevrey-Chambertin, in the heart of the Cote de Nuits, Burgundy. Founded in 1956, the estate is today led by winemaker Arnaud Mortet and farms exclusively Pinot Noir, with a speciality in Gevrey-Chambertin Premier Cru and Grand Cru. Notable vineyards include Lavaux Saint-Jacques, Champeaux, Chambertin, Mazis-Chambertin and Clos de Vougeot.
The domaine was established by Charles Mortet in 1956 before being transformed by his son, Denis Mortet, into one of Burgundy's most admired estates. Denis became renowned for meticulous vineyard management, extremely low yields and uncompromising attention to detail, helping redefine the quality potential of Gevrey-Chambertin during the 1990s and early 2000s.
Following Denis Mortet's passing in 2006, his son Arnaud assumed responsibility for the estate. Whilst respecting the domaine's heritage, Arnaud has gradually refined the style, favouring greater freshness, transparency and elegance whilst maintaining the depth and concentration that have made Domaine Denis Mortet so highly regarded amongst collectors.
